That was one of the nicest places I had dinner in Amsterdam this week. Saying "nice" I mean not only a fascinating interior with awesome paintings on the walls but great service and delicious food as well.
I and my friend came to this restaurant earlier than usual dinner time, so the place we were the only customers at that time. We ordered traditional Dutch dish called "Captain's dinner" and were pleasantly surprised by quantity (and quality!!) of various meals this dinner included: 2 kinds of sausages, pork, bacon with peas, 2 kinds of mashed potatoes.. Everything was absolutely delicious and our only regret was that our portions were too big for us to eat everything we were served.
Very friendly and kind waitress even told us a story about origins of the dish and the name of the Restaurant.
I'd only wished that selection of juice was bigger. But, as we found it out later, most of Amsterdam restaurants have the same 2-3 kinds of fruit juice.
We had a really nice evening in De Poort and would definitely recommend this place to our friends. |

We had a great dinner here. I am a big fan of shrimps, prawns, lobster, gambas...and I have had them in many restaurants worldwide. I found that their grilled gambas dish with risotto was simply excellent. The service was attentive, friendly and polite. |
