There's a part of Amsterdam that never sleeps: Nieuwmarkt. In the middle stands the Weigh House or Waag.
Originally built in 1488, this characteristic monumental structure now houses Restaurant-Café In de Waag: the ideal place in the heart of Amsterdam for a lunch, reception, meeting or dinner. This magnificent historic building with its constrained yet informal interior design is lit by 300 candles. A combination that ensures a unique atmosphere. |

Food: 5 | Service: 7 | Decor: 8 The restaurant itself is lovely - great ambience and deco. The meal was disappointing however - top prices paid for food that was mediocre, to say the least. |

Food: 7 | Service: 1 | Decor: 5 We had a reservation for 20:30, and arrived at 20:25. We were told to wait some minutes, but had to stay until 20:50 before we were finally seated (with another ten minutes for a menu to arrive). The waiter gave us no compensation for the wait, and in fact was really rude about it. The same waiter also managed to give a meat hors d'œuvre to the one of us who ordered the vegetarian dish. (We noticed another waiter had the common sense to ask the vegetarians sitting at the table next to us, so perhaps it was just this one waiter, but still, In de Waag should make sure _all_ waiters are up to the job.)
Otherwise, the food was quite alright (though they were extremely frugal with the sauce) but they really ought to get rid of the cheezy television screens above the bar (otherwise I would've rated the decor an 8). |

Food: 10 | Service: 10 | Decor: 10 Gorgeous ambience and profesisonal, attentive service. Food was top quality, perfectly prepared and presented. Had a prix fixe meal with accompanying wine pairings. Overall a fantastic experience without one complaint. |
